This is not a contained area/aquarium….it is the open ocean. I took a flight back to Dubai and Joe flew to dive with whale sharks for a day. I actually stayed at a hotel right in the Dubai airport. You can’t get to your checked bags so you have to put in your carry on what you want to wear on the flight home. Fabulous experience other than having my door pounded on at 2 in the morning and someone screaming that I was going to miss my flight…..with the language barrier they finally understood they had the wrong room! It is quite a spectacle of modern architecture. You go up an elevator to the top of the picture frame. You learn about and see photos of old Dubai, new Dubai and then future Dubai. It is 2,722 ft, which is a little over a 1/2 a mile….consisting of 163 floors. The highest observation deck is the 148th floor. It takes appx. one minute to get to the 124th floor observation deck and than a separate elevator to get to higher deck.
